“This camp is not just about developing basketball skills; it’s also about building relationships and community,” said Kristoffer Gjerde Sætren, BasketAkademiet General Manager. “We aim to create an environment where players can meet new friends and strengthen connections with coaches from different clubs.”
Participants experienced the joy of basketball while also forming lasting friendships with peers from diverse backgrounds. The camp provided a unique opportunity for players of different ages and clubs to bond over their shared love of the sport, creating an atmosphere of camaraderie and support.
At BasketAkademiet, we place equal importance on values and good attitudes as we do on athletic skills. We believe that effective communication, fostering a positive environment, and taking responsibility are essential components of a successful camp experience. We are proud to see our young athletes not only excelling on the court but also displaying excellent behavior off it.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to all the individuals who made this camp possible:
Coaches from Fyllingen Lions, Frøya, Gimle, Ulriken, Bønes, Ytrebygda, Hop, and Kirkevoll for their dedication and effort.
Volunteers who generously shared their time to distribute fruit, jerseys, and ensure a positive experience for all.
Meteva Sport og Helse for their invaluable support, which made this camp a reality.
Key Contributors: Liv Smart, Alexander Mohn, Kristoffer Sætren, Bouna Ndiaye, Henriette Skouen, Louise Mohn, Karamo Jawara
Together, we are building a stronger basketball community! We look forward to our next camp and wish all participants a fantastic remainder of the season. Please stay tuned for more details.
About Basketakademiet
The Basketakademiet in Bergen is a pioneering collaboration among basketball clubs in Western Norway, united by a shared vision to strengthen the sport for the younger generation. Established by former basketball player and dedicated parent Louise Mohn, the academy provides a high-quality, low-barrier basketball camp for children and youth to develop
their skills under the guidance of Bergen’s most experienced coaches. Four times a year, during school breaks, girls and boys born 2009 - 2016 are offered a four day camp. For special talents the Basketakademiet offers player development programs in close collaboration with the local clubs. This entails two training sessions per month for six months, costs 500 NOK per year per player and commits the club to cover coaches and training facilities. Lastly, Basketakademiet offers an international basketball camp in Bergen in close collaboration with Club Balancesto Getafe, Spain. Aligned with the Norwegian Basketball Federation’s motto, "Basketball– More Than a Sport," the academy fosters inclusion, personal growth, and strong values, shaping both athletes and well-rounded individuals. By bringing together professional coaches with experience from both national and international arenas, the academy offers a unique platform where young talents can learn, grow, and thrive in a supportive and inspiring environment.
